AFC Notes: Broncos, Colts, Jets

Broncos

Troy Renck mentions that while the Broncos have been quiet since signing QB Case Keenum and CB Tramaine Brock, he still expects them to continue looking to add veteran tight end.
One possibility, according to Renck, is former Jaguars TE Marcedes Lewis who could/should get look from the Broncos.

Colts

Colts GM Chris Ballard said Wednesday that they plan to ease QB Andrew Luck into workouts when the team begins meeting on April 9. Ballard added that Luck will be heavily involved with the installation of their new offense. (Zak Keefer)
Regarding the team’s recent decision to release DT Johnathan Hankins, Ballard said: “He didn’t fit schematically what we’re going to do. … This (4-3) defense is predicated on athleticism and speed.” (Andrew Walker)

Jets

New Jets QB Teddy Bridgewater declined to offer an update regarding the serious knee injury he suffered a few years ago, but said he believes he’s still “capable of performing at a high level” and plans to embrace the competition this summer.

“Being an athlete and ultimate competitor, as a player, I welcome competition,” Bridgewater said, via Rich Cimini of ESPN.

Bridgewater said he wasn’t comfortable talking about his knee and if he’ll be ready for the start of offseason workouts.

“That’s not something I’m comfortable talking about right now,” Bridgewater said. “I’m pretty sure that will be a discussion I have with the training staff and we’ll come up with a plan moving forward.”

Bridgewater stressed that he’s “very confident” in himself and an excited about the opportunity to play for the Jets.

“I’m very confident in myself,” Bridgewater said. “I’m confident in the athletic training staff and the coaching staff that they can get me back to the player that I once was. But at the same time, we’re only in March and the only way to get better is to put the work in now. I’m excited about this opportunity I have. … I can’t wait. I’m excited.”
