AFC Notes: Colts, Jaguars, Texans

Colts

Colts DC Matt Eberflus said they will continue rotating CBs T.J. Carrie and Rock Ya-Sin. However, Carrie played more in Week 13 due to “situational” needs.

T.J. has played well during the course of the year,” said Eberflus, via Kevin Bowen of 1075TheFan. “Rock has played well during the course of the year, so we feel we have two good corners there that can play football for us. We are rotating those guys to maximize our potential as a defense. We put T.J. in there some for certain situations and do situational football for us and we will continue to do that.”

  • 94 WIP’s Eliot Shorr-Parks believes if the Eagles were to look to trade QB Carson Wentz, some team would talk themselves into giving up a first-round pick. He lists the Colts, Patriots, Broncos and 49ers as teams with the need and potential salary to absorb Wentz’s contract.
  • Colts DE Justin Houston is 32 and in a contract year but he believes he has a lot of football left in him: “I think I got a lot left in the tank.” (Kevin Bowen)
  • Colts QB Philip Rivers (foot) did not practice Wednesday in what’s becoming a weekly routine. (Stephen Holder)

Jaguars

Texans

  • According to Fansided’s Matt Lombardo, Seahawks executive Alonzo Highsmith is high on the Texans’ list of potential general manager candidates.
  • Lombardo is told the presence of Jimmy Johnson on Texans owner Cal McNair‘s advisory committee is big for Highsmith due to their Miami connection: “With Jimmy Johnson on that search committee, He’s going to lobby for Highsmith. Hard. Especially because of their Miami connection, which would be cool if Jimmy’s able to help Alonzo land a GM gig.”
  • Texans interim HC Romeo Crennel said Houston will probably elevate WR Chad Hansen to the active roster again this week. (Aaron Reiss)
  • Hansen broke out with five catches for more than a hundred yards after being elevated this past Sunday: “That’s part of the business. He had the opportunity to show what he can do and the NFL world saw what he can do. That will bode him well.” (Aaron Wilson)
