AFC Notes: Colts, Jaguars, Texans, Titans

Colts

Jaguars

Texans

  • Texans HC Bill O’Brien said that RB Duke Johson (sprained ankle) is improving every day, but he wouldn’t say if he’ll play on Sunday. O’Brien did, however, mention that he’s “trending in the right direction.” (Aaron Wilson)
  • Dan Graziano of ESPN mentions Texans WR Will Fuller as a potential trade candidate to watch in the coming weeks, depending on how their season plays out.
  • QUESTIONABLE for Week 2: WR Brandin Cooks (quadricep), T Tytus Howard (ankle), RB Duke Johnson (ankle), LB Peter Kalambayi (hamstring)

Titans

Titans HC Mike Vrabel made it clear that RB Derrick Henry won’t be on a pitch count this season, despite concerns about him potentially being worn down.

“We felt like that’s where Derrick was at physically, condition-wise,” Vrabel said, via Pro Football Talk. “That [number] may change each and every week but Derrick is not going to be on any pitch count. He gets himself in great condition and he understands the responsibility he has to the team to be able to sometimes carry it as many times as he did on Monday night. Every game is different.”

  • Regarding the possibility OLB Vic Beasley playing in Week 2, Mike Vrabel said: “Everybody we don’t list as out has a chance to play.” (Terry McCormick)
  • As for K Stephen Gostkowski, Vrabel said: “Stephen’s a pro. He’s missed kicks before. We anticipate that he’ll come back and he’ll be better.” (Erik Bacharach)
  • Dan Graziano of ESPN mentions Titans WR Corey Davis as a potential trade candidate to watch in the coming weeks, depending on how their season plays out.
  • Jeremy Fowler reports that free agent QB Kyle Sloter is scheduled to work out for the Titans in the coming days.
  • OUT for Week 2: WR A.J. Brown (knee), RB Darrynton Evans (hamstring)
  • QUESTIONABLE for Week 2: LB Vic Beasley (knee), CB Malcolm Butler (quadricep), G Jamil Douglas (hand), LB Derick Roberson (knee)
