Bengals QB Joe Burrow is set to carry a cap figure of $48 million in 2026. Cincinnati GM Duke Tobin said they are examining ways to “increase our competitiveness” this offseason when asked about a possible restructure for the quarterback.
“We look at all areas to increase our competitiveness if we have to,” Tobin said, via Kelsey Conway of the Cincinnati Enquirer. “Cap dollars have to be counted, so if we can accomplish what we want to accomplish without pushing things into future problems, we’ll do that. If we need that, we’ll consider that as well.”
As for veteran QB Joe Flacco being a free agent, HC Zac Taylor said they need to evaluate the quarterback market.
“Joe Flacco is going to be a free agent, and so we’ve got to evaluate everybody that’s out there,” Taylor said. “And I don’t know where it’ll fall. I don’t know where it will fall in free agency or the draft, but certainly something we’re going to be paying attention to.”
Veteran G Dalton Risner is also set to be an unrestricted free agent. Taylor said they are working through the “business side of it right now.”
“I like Dalton a lot,” Taylor said. “We are in the business side of it right now. We continue to work through it. He did a great job for us last year and I liked being around him.”
Bengals
Bengals G Dalton Risner believes that QB Joe Burrow is responsible for his new one-year deal with the team.
“This deal wouldn’t have been done without guys like Joe Burrow. Joe Burrow pushed for me this whole offseason,” Risner said, via the team’s website. “He checked in. He wanted me there. Amarius Mims was outspoken. I had so many people. My offensive line coach. Zac Taylor. I just felt like I had so many people that pulled for me that I don’t think this would have gotten done without them.”
