AFC South Notes: Colts, Jaguars, Texans, Titans

Colts

  • The Colts officially downgraded DE Kemoko Turay (neck) to out for Sunday’s game against the Titans.

Jaguars

  • The Jacksonville Jaguars officially downgraded CB A.J. Bouye (hip) and WR Marqise Lee (knee) to out on Saturday and will not have them travel with the team to Houston.

Texans

  • Aaron Wilson of the Houston Chronicle writes that the idea of exploring a trade for Dolphins DB Minkah Fitzpatrick, who has been granted permission to explore potential deals out of Miami, is worth exploring for the Texans if the price is right.
  • The Texans and Dolphins recently completed a blockbuster deal for LT Laremy Tunsil, so Houston is already without two first-round picks. Miami is reportedly seeking a first-round selection in a deal for Fitzpatrick, but if they end up lowering their asking price, Wilson mentions that a deal for Fitzpatrick is worth considering.
  • Houston could really use some secondary help after releasing CB Aaron Colvin earlier in the week and Fitzpatrick offers some versatility and would have a cheap contract in the coming years.

Titans

  • Jim Wyatt writes that Titans LB Wesley Woodyard has seen a reduced role because Rashaan Evans and Jayon Brown are now ahead of him in the pecking order at inside linebacker. Wyatt does, however, expect Woodyard to see more snaps than the 13 he played last week.
  • Regarding QB Marcus Mariota, Wyatt doesn’t think he’ll need to necessarily hit any statistical benchmarks to earn an extension from the team.
