AFC West Notes: Broncos, Chiefs, Raiders

Broncos

Broncos CB Chris Harris said he will “definitely” consider re-signing with Denver at the end of this season.

I’m definitely giving them a shot,” said Harris, via James Palmer. “Definitely, I’m not ever going to, like I told ya’ll earlier, the situation can always be salvaged and worked out. I’m going to do my thing. Then at the end of the year, whatever, whenever, I’m definitely giving them a fair chance, for sure.

Harris added that he has “always said” he wanted to retire with the Broncos.

I don’t know, man. I’m taking it day by day,” said Harris, via Nicki Jhabvala. “I’ve always said that I want to retire here and that’s always been my mentality. If I have to go show them in 16 games that I want to retire here, then I’m going to do it.”

Chiefs

Chiefs OC Eric Bieniemy told reporters on Thursday that Damien Williams is the team’s starting running back at this point.

“Damien Williams is our starter. We expect him to excel in that role,” Bieniemy said, per Brandon Kiley.

Raiders

Though he played left tackle for the Patriots last year, Raiders OT Trent Brown says shifting to the right side is not a problem.

“It’s natural,” Brown said via Adam Hill of the Las Vegas Review-Journal. “Pretty much just stepping right back into what I was doing. [Moving to the left side] was more of a transition than it is coming back to the right. Definitely had to get my reps in and get my work in and it took some time, but I got comfortable over there and I think I can play either side comfortably now.”

The Raiders are comfortable asking TE Darren Waller, who had six catches last season after the Raiders signed him off the Ravens practice squad, to take the primary role in replacing TE Jared Cook and his 68 catches in 2018.

“Would it stunt his growth if Jared was here? Possibly,” OC Greg Olson said via Scott Bair of NBCSportsBayArea.com. “So now that he has that position, it’s your position, you are the ‘Y’ in certain personnel groupings. We’re going to put you out there on the field and you’re going to play. You’re going to get better from playing. You’re not going to wait and sit behind Jared Cook and have to wait your turn, you have to go now. We’re really pushing him to the limit right now.”
