AFC West Notes: Chargers, Chiefs, Raiders

Chargers

Chargers DC Gus Bradley said DE Joey Bosa โ€œlooks awesomeโ€ in OTAs and is in โ€œgreat shapeโ€ after dealing with a lingering foot injury last season.

โ€œHe looks awesome,โ€ Bradley said, via Chris Hayre of the teamโ€™s official site. โ€œHe feels really good. So, to get him back on the field โ€“ just that brotherhood part where the guys are together again โ€“ I think thatโ€™s important. You can always count on him. Itโ€™s great to see him. He looks to be in great shape.โ€

Bosa said he feels โ€œas fast and strongโ€ as ever been but mentioned he must continue taking care of his health.

โ€œIโ€™m as fast and strong as Iโ€™ve ever been in my life,โ€ Bosa said. โ€œItโ€™s just about some little things like my hands and stuff, but as a defensive lineman, youโ€™re going to deal with that stuff. I just have to take care of myself in that sense, tape up and keep doing what Iโ€™m doing.โ€

Chiefs

Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes mentioned that second-round WR Mecole Hardman is โ€œvery fastโ€ and already getting accustomed to their system.

โ€œHeโ€™s a great player. Obviously, heโ€™s very fast, but heโ€™s working on everything, route-running, getting accustomed to the offense, I was very excited,โ€ said Mahomes, via the teamโ€™s official site. โ€œWhen you add guys and add depth, it really is a special thing to know that the staff and everybody keeps adding and are never satisfied with where we are at, we are going to keep getting better every single year.โ€

Regarding Chiefs WR Sammy Watkins, Mahomes said the receiver has โ€œslimmed downโ€ over the offseason.

โ€œIt is awesome. To see how hard he works, you can tell, heโ€™s slimmed down, heโ€™s running really fast, he still has that power that you see every Sunday,โ€ said Mahomes. โ€œFor him to be out here working hard, you see it every single day stacking on top of each other, you know that heโ€™s primed and ready to go out there this season.โ€

Raiders

  • According to Mick Ayers of the Las Vegas Review-Journal, the $1.8 billion budget for the Raidersโ€™ stadium in Las Vegas grew $40 million in order to ad 20 new suites.
  • Ayers writes that the addition of the 20 suites will help their candidacy for hosting the Super Bowl.
