AFC West Notes: Chargers, Chiefs, Raiders

Chargers

Chargers DC Gus Bradley said DE Joey Bosalooks awesome” in OTAs and is in “great shape” after dealing with a lingering foot injury last season.

โ€œHe looks awesome,โ€ Bradley said, via Chris Hayre of the team’s official site. โ€œHe feels really good. So, to get him back on the field โ€“ just that brotherhood part where the guys are together again โ€“ I think that’s important. You can always count on him. It’s great to see him. He looks to be in great shape.”

Bosa said he feels “as fast and strong” as ever been but mentioned he must continue taking care of his health.

โ€œI’m as fast and strong as I’ve ever been in my life,โ€ Bosa said. โ€œIt’s just about some little things like my hands and stuff, but as a defensive lineman, you’re going to deal with that stuff. I just have to take care of myself in that sense, tape up and keep doing what I’m doing.โ€

Chiefs

Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes mentioned that second-round WR Mecole Hardman is “very fast” and already getting accustomed to their system.

Heโ€™s a great player. Obviously, heโ€™s very fast, but heโ€™s working on everything, route-running, getting accustomed to the offense, I was very excited,” said Mahomes, via the team’s official site. “When you add guys and add depth, it really is a special thing to know that the staff and everybody keeps adding and are never satisfied with where we are at, we are going to keep getting better every single year.โ€

Regarding Chiefs WR Sammy Watkins, Mahomes said the receiver has “slimmed down” over the offseason.

โ€œIt is awesome. To see how hard he works, you can tell, heโ€™s slimmed down, heโ€™s running really fast, he still has that power that you see every Sunday,” said Mahomes. “For him to be out here working hard, you see it every single day stacking on top of each other, you know that heโ€™s primed and ready to go out there this season.โ€

Raiders

  • According to Mick Ayers of the Las Vegas Review-Journal, the $1.8 billion budget for the Raiders’ stadium in Las Vegas grew $40 million in order to ad 20 new suites.
  • Ayers writes that the addition of the 20 suites will help their candidacy for hosting the Super Bowl.
