Field Yates of ESPN reports that the 2018 base salaries forย Redskins OT Trent Williams and CB Josh Norman officially de-escalated after they failed to participate in 90 percent of the team’s offseason workouts.
According to Yates, Williams will now make $9.85 million in 2018 as opposed to $10 million and Norman receives $13.3 million, down from $13.5 million.
Norman, 30, is a former fifth-round pick of the Panthers back in 2012. He spent four years in Carolina and actually received the Panthers’ franchise tag last year, but the team surprisingly pulled the tender and he eventually signed a five-year, $75 million contract that includes $36.5 million fully guaranteed with the Redskins.
Norman stands to make base salaries of $13.5 million and $11 million over the next two years of the contract.
In 2017, Norman appeared inย 14 games and recorded 64 tackles, two forced fumbles, a recovery, no interceptions and nine pass defenses. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 53 cornerback out of 121 qualifying players.
Williams, 30, is a former first-round pick of the Redskins back in 2010. He currently in the third year of his five-year, $66 million contract that includes $43.25 million guaranteed and stands to make base salaries ofย $10 million and $11 million over the next two years of the agreement.
In 2017, Williams appeared in 10 games for the Redskinsย and is rated byย Pro Football Focusย as the No. 9 offensive tackleย out of 81 qualifying players.
