Brad Biggs of the Chicago Tribune reports that the Bears have released P Spencer Lanning and LB John Timuย on Tuesday.
- Jeff Dickerson reports that the Bears also promotedย OT Nick Becton to their active roster and signed S Sherrod Martin.
- Dickerson adds that Chicago signed Cย Barrett Jones and DT Brandon Dunnย to their practice squad.
Biggs mentions that the decision to releaseย Lanning is obviously a good sign that P Pat O’Donnell will be able to play Sunday against the Chiefs.
Lanning, 27, originally signed on with the Bears as an undrafted free agent out of back in 2011. He spent just a few months in Chicago before he was waived at the start of the 2011 season.
Since then, Lanning has played for the Jaguars, Jets, Browns, Buccaneers and most recently for the Broncos.
In 2014, Lanning appeared in all 16 games for the Browns and totaled 3,824 yards punting and 10 touchbacks.
