Michael Gehlken reports that the Chargers have been informed that WR Eddie Royal is signing with the Bears.
According to Brad Biggs, Royal receives a three-year deal worth $15 million in total and includes $10 million guaranteed.
- Gehlken mentions that Royal is familiar with Bears QB Jay Cutler and some of their coaching staff.
- Dan Wiederer reported earlier in the day that the Bears were meeting with Royal, and the expectation was that Chicago would likely get him under contract.
Royal, 28, is a former second-round pick of the Broncos. He signed a three-year contract with the Chargers back in March of 2012.
Last year, he appeared in all 16 games and caught 62 passes for 778 yards receiving and seven touchdowns. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 43 receiver out of 110 qualifying players.
