Rich Campbell of the Chicago Tribune reports that the Bearsย plan to sign veteran center Will Montgomeryย to replace Robertoย Garza, who is being released.

Montgomery, 31,ย is a former seventh round pick of the Panthers back in 2006. He later caught on with the Jets before joining the Redskins as a free agent in 2008.ย
Pro Football Focusย hadย Montgomery down for playingย 1172 snaps last season and grading out as the No. 15 center in league last season. He was a solid run-blocker, according to their ratings, and should be an upgrade to Garza.
