Bears Trying Out Seven Players During Minicamp

Adam Jahns of the Sun-Times reports that the Bears are trying out seven free agents during their minicamp this week including:

  1. RB Melvin Vaughn
  2. TE John Wolfe
  3. LB Josh Perry
  4. LB Josh Woods
  5. LB Kasim Edebali
  6. LB Caylon Weathers
  7. LS James Fisher

Of this group, the Bears elected to sign Edebali and Woods to contracts (NFLTR).

Perry, 24, is a former fourth-round pick of the Chargers back in 2016. but was waived from injured reserve with a settlement at the start of last season.

Perry later signed on to the Colts’ practice squad and was on and off the unit throughout the 2017 season. Indianapolis brought him back on a futures contract this past January only to cut him loose last month.

In 2017, Perry appeared in two games but did not record a statistic.

Woods wound up going undrafted out of Maryland a few months ago. Unfortunately, he has yet to secure an opportunity with an NFL team.

During his four-year college career at Maryland, Woods recorded 107 tackles, 5.5 tackles for a loss, two interceptions, a forced fumble and six pass defenses over the course of 23 games.
