Allen Robinson Hasn’t Requested Trade, But Unhappy Bears Are Unwilling To Pay Him Market Value

Update:

Brandon Parker, agent for Bears WR Allen Robinson, tells Adam Schefter they have not requested a trade out of Chicago. However, Robinson is unhappy that the Bears have been unwilling to pay him market value for wide receivers.

Brad Biggs reports Bears WR Allen Robinson has indeed asked about a possible trade as negotiations appear to have stalled.

Biggs notes the franchise tag for Robinson would be around $18 million and the veteran has similar career stats to Chargers WR Keenan Allen, who just signed for $20 million a year.

He adds there’s plenty of incentive for both sides to get a deal done, and while Chicago might not be interested in trading its No. 1 receiver, there likely would be plenty of suitors.

According to Tom Pelissero, Bears WR Allen Robinson has grown frustrated with the state of contract negotiations so far.

Robinson is entering the final year of his contract and the two sides have been working on a new deal. However, Pelissero says Robinson has felt disrespected by Chicago’s offers to this point because he doesn’t think they reflect his fair market value as a No. 1 receiver.

Robinson recently removed all references to the Bears off his social media, including photos of him in a Bears jersey. His teammate, RB Tarik Cohen, also started an #ExtendAR hashtag which teammates supported.

However, Robinson has not officially requested a trade from the Bears. Pelissero adds the Bears have a long history of getting extensions done with players they consider a priority, but this deal has been more challenging to complete to this point.

Robinson stated earlier this offseason that his preference was to stay with the Bears long-term.

Robinson, 27, is a former second-round pick by the Jaguars back in 2014. He played out the final year of a four-year, $3.510 million rookie contract before agreeing to a three-year, $42 million contract with roughly $25 million guaranteed with the Bears back in 2018.

Robinson stands to make a base salary of $10,900,000 for the 2020 season.

Robinson caught five passes for 74 yards in Sunday’s season-opening win against the Lions.

In 2019, Robinson appeared in 16 games for the Bears and caught 98 passes for 1,147 yards receiving and seven touchdowns.
