Bengals Among A Few Teams To Reach Out To DT Dominique Easley

Jeff Howe of the Boston Herald reports that former Patriots DTย Dominique Easley has had a few teams reach out to him since he became available including the Bengals.

It’s been a few weeks since we’ve heard anything regarding Easley.

Falcons HC Dan Quinn previously told reporters that he’s had discussions with former Easley since he was cut by the Patriots. However,ย Quinn did say that nothing is up between the themย andย Easley at this point in time.

Atlanta previously came up as a potential landing spot for Easley, seeing as Quinn coached him at Florida.

It’s worth mentioning that signing Easley to a contract wouldn’t factor into a team’s 2017 compensatory picks.

Easley, 23, was taken with the No. 29 overall pick during the 2014 NFL Draft. He isย in the third of his four-year, $7.303 million rookie contractย that includedย $5.887 million guaranteedย and stands to make a base salary ofย $1.084 million for the 2016 season and another $1 millionย in 2017.

Easley’s career has largely been marred by injury, as he appeared in just 22 games over the course of his two years in the NFL with both seasons ending with him on injured reserve. In college,ย Easley tore both of his ACLs while playing for Florida, so there were obvious concerns about injuries hampering his NFL career.

In 2015, Easley appeared in 11 games for the Patriots and recorded 15 tackles and two sacks.ย Pro Football Focus gave him a solid rating overall last year, despite playing 275 snaps for the Patriots.

We have him featuredย in ourย Best Available Free Agents list.
