Bengals CB Mackensie Alexander Leaves Camp After Father Goes Missing

Update: Tom Pelissero reports Bengals CB Mackensie Alexander was arrested on Tuesday night for one count of battery, per the Collier County sheriff’s office.

Pelissero says his understanding is Alexander confronted the man who left behind his father on the berry-picking trip he disappeared during.

Alexander remains in custody and no arrest report has been released.

“We are aware of the situation. We have no further comment at this time,” the Bengals said in a statement via Jay Morrison.

Tom Pelissero of NFL Media reports that Bengals CB Mackensie Alexander has left training camp after his father, Jean Odney Alexandre, disappeared Monday while on a berry-picking trip.

Pelissero says that a search for Alexander’s father is currently underway.

Alexandre, 65, reportedly arrived in Okeechobee County with another man Monday to pick palmetto berries somewhere on the prairie, and the other man left Alexandre behind, per Pelissero.

We’re hoping for good news regarding Jean and have Mackensie and his family in our thoughts and prayers.

Alexander, 26, is a former second-round pick of the Vikings back in 2016. He’s currently in the final year of his four-year, $4.316 million contract and stands to make a base salary of $1.03 million for the 2019 season.

Alexander was testing the open market as an unrestricted free agent this offseason when he agreed to a one-year, $4 million contract with the Bengals this past March.

In 2019, Alexander appeared in 13 games for the Vikings and recorded 38 tackles, a half sack, an interception, a fumble recovery and five pass defenses.
