According to Tom Pelissero, the Bengals have claimed former Browns K Austin Seibert off waivers.
Cleveland and Cincinnati are set to play Thursday night, so Seibert could be the Bengals’ insurance against his former team if starting K Randy Bullock can’t go because of a calf injury.
The Browns waived Seibert yesterday after he missed a field goal and an extra point in a 38-6 loss to the Ravens. They were the only two kicks he attempted.
Bullock pulled his calf on a missed game-tying field goal in Cincinnati’s 16-13 loss to the Chargers, so he might find it challenging to be ready to go on a short week.
Seibert, 23, was drafted by the Browns in the fifth round out of Oklahoma in 2019. He signed a four-year, $2.8 million deal and will make a base salary of $675,000 in 2020.
In 2019, Seibert appeared in all 16 games for the Browns and made 25-29 field goal attempts (86.2 percent) and 30-35 extra points (85.7 percent).
