The Cincinnati Bengals are declining WR John Ross‘ fifth-year option for the 2021 season, according to Adam Schefter.
The fifth-year option was guaranteed for injury only and wouldn’t have prevented the two parties from negotiating a contract extension over the next year or so. The option would have cost Cincinnati $15,680,000 for the 2021 season.
Ross, 24, is a former first-round pick of the Bengals back in 2017. He is entering the final year of his four-year rookie contract worth $17.11 million which included a signing bonus of $10.58 million.
In 2019, Ross appeared in eight games for the Bengals and had 28 receptions for 506 yards (18.1 YPC) and three touchdowns.
