Bengals Re-Signing CB Darqueze Dennard

Update:

Tom Pelissero reports that the Bengals are, in fact, re-signing CB Darqueze Dennard.

According to Geoff Hobson, the Bengals are in “full boil” talks with free agent CB Darqueze Dennard about a return to Cincinnati.

  • Ian Rapoport reports that the Bengals, Chiefs and one other team are in the mix to sign Dennard. However, Rapoport adds that Cincinnati has been engaged throughout the process and it’s possible a decision could be made today.

Dennard recently visited with the Chiefs, but that was before Kansas City signed Bashaud Breeland to a contract, so it remains to be seen if they’re still a serious suitor for Dennard.

It’s been surprising to see how limited Dennard’s market has been since free agency opened last week, considering that he’s one of the best cornerbacks available.

Dennard, 27, was taken with the No. 24 overall pick by the Bengals back in 2014. He played out the final year of his four-year, $7.978 million contract before the Bengals picked up his fifth-year option for the 2018 season.

Dennard made $8,526,000 million last year and is testing the open market as an unrestricted free agent for the first time in his NFL career.

In 2018, Dennard appeared in 13 games for the Bengals and recorded 68 tackles, no interceptions, two forced fumbles, a recovery and six pass defenses.

We have him featured in our Top 50 Available Free Agents list.
