Sources tell Tony Pauline of DraftAnalyst.com that the Bengals are hoping to trade former first-round WR John Ross this offseason and will field offers for him at the Combine this week.
Ian Rapoport confirms the news and adds that both parties would like a fresh start.
Ross has dealt with injuries dating back to his college career at Washington and hasn’t come close to living up to his draft status, so it’s not all that surprising to hear that the Bengals are open to moving him.
Ross, 23, is a former first-round pick of the Bengals back in 2017. He’s entering the third year of his four-year contract worth $17,115,864 and included a signing bonus of $10,587,900 and stands to make base salaries of $2,020,988 and $2,798,982 over the final two years.
The contract also has a fifth-year option for the Bengals to consider in 2020.
In 2018, Ross appeared in 13 games for the Bengals and caught 21 passes for 210 yards receiving and seven touchdowns.
We’ll have more regarding the Bengals and Ross as the news is available.
