Williams left Sunday’s game against the Dolphins with a knee injury. While he would be eligible to return after three games on IR, there are only four games left in the season.
Williams, 23, was selected by the Bengals in the first round out of Alabama in 2019. He’s in the second year of a four-year, $17,630,162 rookie contract that included a $10,841,936 signing bonus.
The contract includes a fifth-year option for the Bengals to make a decision on in 2022.
In 2020, Williams has appeared in 10 games and started all ten at left tackle. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 42 tackle out of 81 qualifying players.
Phillips, 25, was drafted in the fifth round by the Bengals out of Western Michigan in 2018. He’s in the third year of a four-year, $2.7 million rookie contract.
The Bengals officially designated Phillips to return a few weeks ago.
In 2020, Phillips has appeared in eight games for the Bengals and recorded 18 total tackles, one interception and five pass defenses.
