According to Aaron Wilson, the Bengals have placed RB Joe Mixon on their injured reserve and promoted G Quinton Spain and CB Jalen Davis from the practice squad.
It’s worth mentioning that the NFL changed the rules regarding injured reserve for the 2020 season and players can return from the list in just three weeks.
He’s missed the last three games for the Bengals, so he was clearly unable to return while still on the active roster.
Mixon, 24, is a former second-round pick of the Bengals back in 2017. He was entering the final year of his four-year, $5.45-million rookie contract when Cincinnati re-signed him to a four-year, $48 million extension back in September.
He’s set to earn a base salary of $1,300,000 and $8,000,000 over the next two years.
In 2020, he’s appeared in six games and recorded 119 rushing attempts for 428 yards (3.6 YPC) and three touchdowns, to go along with 21 receptions for 138 yards receiving (6.6 YPC), one touchdown, and one lost fumble.
