Bengals Plan To Work With Andy Dalton To Facilitate Trade

According to NFL Media’s Ian Rapoport, the Bengals plan to work with QB Andy Dalton to facilitate a trade at some point this offseason.

Rapoport says he’s been told the Bengals have a high value for Dalton and respect for what he has done for them, and will not put Dalton in a situation that’s bad for him or that the veteran doesn’t agree with moving forward.

With the Bengals likely taking LSU QB Joe Burrow No. 1 overall in a few months, it’s clear Dalton’s time in Cincinnati is coming to a close.

The veteran also made it clear when he was benched last season that he would have preferred to have been traded to a team that gave him a chance to start. It appears that’s what the Bengals will try to do now.

Dalton, 32, is a former second-round pick of the Bengals back in 2011. He’s currently entering the final year of his seven-year, $97.09 million contract, which includes $17 million guaranteed.

Dalton stands to make a base salary of $17.5 million in 2020.

In 2019, Dalton appeared in 13 games for the Bengals and threw for 3,494 yards while completing 59.5 percent of his passes to go along with 16 touchdowns and 14 interceptions.

We’ll have more on Dalton as the news is available.
