The Bengals have announced that the release of cornerback Jason Allen, per ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
A year ago, Allen had signed a two year contract worth $8.2 million, but with the team re-signing Terence Newman and Adam Jones, Allen most likely wouldn’t have been higher than fifth on the Bengals’ depth chart.
Allen was set to make $3 million for the 2013 season, but was limited playing in just four games last season. In fact, he only played just three defensive snaps this past season.
Still, many expect Allen to find a decent amount of interest on the open market, which happens to be limited in terms of defensive backs.
