Bills Allocated RB Christian Wade As International Pathway Player

The Bills announced on Monday that they have been allocated RB Christian Wade as a part of the International Player Pathway program.

Wade, 27, is a former rugby player from the United Kingdom. He played from 2011-2018 before announcing in October of 2018 he was retiring from rugby to pursue a career in American football.

Wade scored 82 tries in Premiership Rugby, England’s top rugby division, which is the third-most ever for a player in the league.

The International Player Pathway program was instituted by the NFL in 2017 as a way to grow the game of football. Each year one of the NFL’s eight divisions will be randomly chosen to receive one international player each.

Those players don’t count against the 90-man roster limit and can be carried as an eleventh practice squad member if they’re not signed to a contract.
