Bills Using Franchise Tag On OT Cordy Glenn

Albert Breer of NFL Media reports that the Bills are using their franchise tag on OTย Cordy Glenn.

There was talk that it could be difficult forย the Bills to franchise Glenn, given their current cap situation, but recent reports indicated that the franchise tag was an option for Glenn.

However, it will likely result in the Bills cutting veteran OLB Mario Williams, whichย would createย $12.9 million. This money would essentially beย transferred to Glenn, as the tag will run themย $13.706 million for the 2016 season.

Glenn, 26, has played out his four-year, $4,865,180 rookie contract and wasย in line to be one of the most sought after free agents in this year’s free agent market.

In 2015, Glenn appeared in all 16 games for the Bills and was rated by Pro Football Focus as the No. 9 offensive tackle out of 76 qualifying players.

We haveย Glenn featuredย in ourย Top 100 – 2016 Free Agents list.
