Bills GM Doug Whaley mentionedย on Thursday that trade talks with NFL teamsย are intensifying as the draft nears.
โIt has definitely intensified,โ Whaley said, viaย BuffaloBills.com.
According toย Whaley, they are now focusing on a few teams who have they match up with in terms of compensation.
โWhat happens is youโll narrow down your focus to some teams that you feel have the right compensation that works for what youโre thinking of doing, or what theyโre thinking about doing, and you then put that singular focus on those teams and thatโs why (the talk) intensifies,โ he said.
Whaley added that there is more interest coming from teams drafting within the top 10 than from teams who are trying to up that far.
โRight now I would say just from our conversations that thereโs more competition moving inside the top 10 than teams trying to get in the top 10,โ said Whaley.
There has been reports for a few weeks now that the Bills could look to trade up for someone like Clemson WR Sammy Watkins. However,ย Joe Buscaglia ofย WGR 550 in Buffaloย reports that the team could end up drafting LSU WR Odell Beckham Jr at No. 9 overall.
For what it’s worth, we have the Bills remaining at No. 9 and selection Michiganย OTย Taylor Lewanย in our finalย 2014 NFL Mock Draft.
