Ian Rapoport of NFL Media reports that the Bills are hosting Bengals free agent Cย Russell Bodine on a visit today and into Monday.
This is the first reported interest in him since the free agent market officially opened.
The Bills are clearly in need of a center now that Eric Wood will likely retire from the NFL once his contract situation is settled.
Back in January, Bengals HC Marvin Lewis said that they are hoping to re-sign Bodine this offseason, but there hasn’t been any buzz about him returning since then.
โWe want to do everything in our power to get Russell back,โ Lewis said, via theย Cincinnati Enquirer. โRussellโs been, physically, mentally a tough football player for us. He was installed there as a rookie and heโs done nothing but continue to grow and get better and frankly grow into a guy you can count on to help lead the football team. I feel really good about him. So hopefully weโll be able to get that done. Iโd like to get that done. Heโd like to get that done, from what he says.โ
Bodine, 25, is a former fourth-round pick of the Bengals back in 2014. He played out the final year of his four-year, $2,676,456 contract and is now testing the open market for the first time in his NFL career.
In 2017, Bodine appeared in all 16 games for the Bengals and is rated by Pro Football Focus as the No. 26 center out of 38 qualifying players.
