Bills Release P Colton Schmidt

The Buffalo Bills announced Sunday that they’ve released P Colton Schmidt to make room for P Corey Bojorquez, who was claimed off of waivers by the Patriots.

Schmidt, 27, originally signed on with the 49ers as an undrafted free agent out of Davis back in 2013. He lasted a little over a month with the team before he was placed on waivers. The Browns claimed him shortly after, but was cut loose after just a few days.

Schmidt later had a brief stint with the 49ers before the Bills signed him to a contract in 2014. He was in the final year of his two-year, $2.6 million contract and set to make a base salary of $1.15 million for the 2018 season.

In 2017, Schmidt totaled 3,322 punt yards on 79 attempts (42.05 YPA) to go along with six touchdowns over the course of all 16 games.
