Jets Hire Joe Douglas As GM

The New York Jets announced Friday that they’ve hired Eagles VP of player personnel Joe Douglas as their next GM.

Adam Schefter reports that Douglas receives a six-year contract from the Jets.

According to Schefter, the Jets just would not take “no” as an answer from Douglas and they came back harder every time he turned down their offer. Schefter days that the Jets “simply were not going to be denied in their efforts to land [Douglas].”

Douglas was clearly the name to watch for the Jets, given his ties to HC Adam Gase, and it looks like they were able to get an agreement in place before the Texans could set up an interview.

Douglas began working for the Ravens in their personnel department in 2000 and spent 15 years with the organization.

The Bears hired him as their director of college scouting for the 2015 season.

Douglas spent one year in Chicago before joining the Eagles as their vice president of player personnel the following year.
