TRADE: Lions Trade LB Kyle Van Noy To Patriots

Field Yates and James Walker of ESPN reports that the Lions have traded LB Kyle Van Noy to the Patriots.

  • According toย Yates, the Lions are sending a 2017 seventh-round pick along with Van Noy to the Patriots for a 2017 sixth-round pick.

The Lions and Patriots are no strangers to completing trades, as they’veย previously agreed to a deal that sent LB Jon Bostic to Detroit. There’s also an obvious connection between the two teams, as Detroit hired Bob Quinn after he spent a number of years in New England.

The Patriots continue to collect linebackers who were high drafts including Barkevious Mingoย and Shea McClellin.ย

Van Noy,ย 25, is a former second-round pick of the Lions back in 2014. He’s currently in the third year of his four-year, $5.1 million contract and set to make a base salary ofย $758,828 for the 2016 season.

In 2016, Van Noy has appeared in seven games for the Lions and recorded 23 tackles and no sacks.ย Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 69 linebacker out of 86 qualifying players.

We’ll have more details regarding the trade as the news is available.
