Raiders Trading G Kelechi Osemele To Jets

Update:

The Oakland Raiders announced Wednesday that they’ve officially traded G Kelechi Osemele to the Jets.

Adam Schefter and Josina Anderson are reporting that the Raiders have reached an agreement to trade G Kelechi Osemele to the Jets.

According to Jerry McDonald, the Raiders will get a fifth-round pick for Osemele and a sixth-round pick.

There had been some speculation in recent months that Osemele could be available for trade and it looks like the Raiders felt it was best to move on now before the free agent market officially opens.

Osemele, 29, is a former second-round pick of the Ravens back in 2012. He played out his rookie contract with the Ravens before signing a five year, $58.5 million contract with the Raiders back in 2016.

Osemele stands to make base salaries of $9.7 million and $11.2 million over the next two years of the agreement.

According to OverTheCap.com, trading Osemele will free up $10.2 million of available cap space while creating no dead money.

In 2018, Osemele appeared in 11 games for the Raiders and is rated by Pro Football Focus as the No. 61 guard out of 77 qualifying players.
