Josina Anderson reports that veteran WR Emmanuel Sanders plans to sign with the Saints.
- Adam Schefter says Sanders receives a two-year contract worth $16 million that can increase up to $19 million with incentives.
- According to Schefter, Sanders spoke with the Cowboys and Packers but preferred to sign with the Saints.
This seems like a great landing spot for Sanders, as the Saints could really use a solid No. 2 receiver to play opposite of Michael Thomas.
The receiver market had been very slow-moving since free agency opened, which may have led to Sanders opting to go with the best opportunity to win.
Sanders, 33, is a former third-round pick of the Steelers back in 2010. He played out his rookie contract before signing a four-year, $38.6 million contract that included $20 million guaranteed with the Broncos back in 2014.
Sanders was entering the final year of his deal when the Broncos traded him midseason to the 49ers for a third and fourth-round pick. He made a base salary of $10.5 million for the 2019 season.
In 2019, Sanders appeared in seven games for the Broncos and 10 games for the 49ers. He caught 66 passes for 869 yards receiving and five touchdowns.
We had him included in our Top 100 Available 2020 Free Agents list.
