The NFL announced Monday that Seahawks WR Josh Gordon has been suspended indefinitely without pay for performance-enhancing substances and substances of abuse violations.

Josh Gordon of the Seattle Seahawks has been suspended indefinitely without pay for violating the NFL policies on performance-enhancing substances and substances of abuse.

Gordon is in the final year of his contract and said recently that he was hoping to be back in Seattle next year.
โOh yeah, absolutely. Seattle is amazing,โ Gordon said, via Pro Football Talk. โFootball aside, Iโd definitely love to live in a place like this.โ
Gordon has been suspended several times over the course of his NFL career, including five for substance abuse violations, which is why this is an indefinite ban. He’ll once again have to apply for conditional reinstatement to the NFL at a later point in time if he wants to resume his NFL career.
Gordon, 28, is a former second-round supplemental pick of the Browns back in 2012. Suspensions forced Gordon to sit out the 2015 and 2016 seasons but he was reinstated in November of 2017 and finished out the seasons with the Browns.
The Browns re-signed Gordon to a one-year exclusive rights contract worth $790,000 but he was traded to the Patriots for a fifth-round pick. New England re-signed Gordon to a one-year, restricted deal this offseason that will pay him $2.025 million for the 2019 season.
Gordon was waived from injured reserve a few months ago and later claimed by the Seahawks. He’s in line to be an unrestricted free agent for the first time in his NFL career next year.
In 2019, Gordon has appeared in 11 games for the Seahawks and Patriots and caught 27 passes for 426 yards receiving and one touchdown.
