Update:
Ian Rapoport reports that the Buccaneers have reached an agreement with QB Tom Brady that is believed to be worthy roughly $30 million per year.
Adam Schefter reports that Tom Brady is expected to sign with the Buccaneers, barring any unforeseen turn of events.
Schefter says there’s no specific date for Brady to sign or an official announcement set up, but he is expected to be playing in Tampa Bay.
Ian Rapoport adds that the Buccaneers’ offer to Brady is believed to be roughly $30 million per year. Rapoport adds that the Buccaneers are the only known team to make an offer to Brady and Tampa Bay has been confident all day and for good reason.
It became clear earlier in the day that the Buccaneers were the team to watch for Brady, even though other teams like the Chargers and possibly the Dolphins were in play.
A recent report said that Brady preferred to remain on the East Coast, given the proximity to his family, which likely hurt the Chargers’ chances of signing him.
Brady announced this morning that he was moving on the Patriots.
Brady, 42, is a former sixth-round pick of the Patriots back in 2000. He was in the final year of his two-year, $41 million contract when he agreed to a two-year extension a few weeks ago.
Brady made $23 million for the 2019 season and was testing the open market as an unrestricted free agent this offseason.
In 2019, Brady appeared in all 16 games for the Patriots and threw for 4,057 yards, 24 touchdowns and eight interceptions. He also rushed for 34 yards and three touchdowns.
