Broncos Picking Up Options On LB Todd Davis & K Brandon McManus, Declining G Ron Leary’s

On Thursday, Broncos executive VP John Elway told reporters that they will decline their team option on G Ronald Leary, but pick up their options on LB Todd Davis and K Brandon McManus, per Nicki Jhabvala.

Leary was owed $8 million-plus in 2020 and he has struggled to stay healthy.

Davis, 28, originally signed on with the Saints as an undrafted free agent out of Sacramento State back in 2014. He lasted less than a year in New Orleans before he was waived during the season and later claimed off of waivers by the Broncos.

The Broncos brought Davis back on a one-year, $2.746 million restricted contract for the 2016 season before signing him to a three-year, $15 million contract that includes $6 million guaranteed in 2018.

In 2019, Davis appeared in 14 games for the Broncos and recorded 134 tackles, no sacks or interceptions and one pass defense.

McManus, 28, originally signed on with the Colts back in 2013. He lasted just a few months with the Colts before he caught on with the Giants at the end of the 2014 season.

New York later traded McManus to the Broncos for a 2015 conditional seventh-round pick that ultimately became Tre McBride” href=”http://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/M/McBrTr00.htm?utm_campaign=Linker&utm_source=direct&utm_medium=linker-nfltraderumors.co” target=”_blank” rel=”nofollow noopener”>Tre McBride. After a decent preseason, the Broncos cut veteran Matt Prater” href=”http://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/P/PratMa20.htm?utm_campaign=Linker&utm_source=direct&utm_medium=linker-nfltraderumors.co” target=”_blank” rel=”nofollow noopener”>Matt Prater and kept McManus.

McManus returned to the Broncos in 2017 on a one-year, restricted tender worth $2.746 million and later agreed to a three-year, $11.254 million extension.

In 2019, McManus appeared in all 16 games for the Broncos and converted 29 of 34 field goal attempts (85.3 percent) to go along with 25 of 26 extra point tries (96.2 percent).

Leary, 30, wound up signing on with the Cowboys as an undrafted free agent out of back in 2012. He played out his rookie contract with the Cowboys before signing a four-year, $36 million contract that included $18.65 million guaranteed with the Broncos in 2017.

In 2019, Leary appeared in 12 games for the Broncos and made 12 starts for them at guard.
