According toย Mike Klis of 9News, contract negotiations between the Broncos and free agent RB Ronnie Hillman are “heating up”ย andย Denver is “hopeful” to get a deal done by Monday.
It is worth mentioning thatย Klisย reported last week that theย Broncos hadย exchanged contract proposals with Hillman.
Even afterย re-signing Hillman, Klis believes itโs still possible they target a running back in this yearโs draft.
Denver managed to bring back C.J. Andersonย after they matched the Dolphinsโ offer sheet, but they could still use help at the position.
Hillman, 24, is a former third-round pick of the Broncos back in 2012. He has played out his rookie contract and is now testing the open market as an unrestricted free agent for the first time.
In 2015, Hillman appeared in all 16 games for the Broncos and ran for 863 yards on 207 carries (4.2 YPC) to go along with 24 receptions for 111 yards receiving and seven total touchdowns.ย Pro Football Focusย has him rated as the No. 49 running backย out of qualifying 69 players.
We have him featuredย in ourย Best Available Free Agents list.
