Field Yates reports that the Broncos signed former Packers OL Don Barclay to a futures contract for the 2019 season on Tuesday.
The Broncos have now signed 11 players to futures deals including:
- WR Fred Brown
- QB Garrett Grayson
- WR Chad Hansen
- LB A.J. Johnson
- OT Andreas Knappe
- DT Caushaud Lyons
- RB Khalfani Muhammad
- G Austin Schlottmann
- DB Linden Stephens
- S Shamarko Thomas
- OL Don Barclay
Futures deals are essentially camp invites that will give players the opportunity to compete for roster spots during offseason workouts and training camp.
Barclay, 29, wound up signing on with the Packers as an undrafted free agent out of West Virginia back in 2012. He managed to make the 53-man roster in each of his first five years in the NFL but was released during the 2017 season.
From there, Barclay had a brief stint with the Lions before signing on with the Saints in August of last year. Unfortunately, New Orleans waived him a few weeks later.
In 2017, Barclay was active in just three games before sustaining a season-ending concussion.
