Broncos Will Apply Franchise Tag To OL Ryan Clady

Broncos vice president of football operations John Elway confirms that the Broncos will use the franchise tag on OL Ryan Clady, per Mike Klis of The Denver Post.

We’re going to tag him,” said Elway, “Things have changed a little bit because he’s coming off a shoulder surgery. But we like Ryan. We like him a lot as a player and we’d like to get something done.

Clady, 26, is already a three-time Pro Bowl selection and clearly one of the best offensive tackles in the league. Keeping him is without a doubt their biggest offseason priority, so it’s not surprising to see Elway be so candid about their plans.

The franchise tag with run the Broncos $9.66 million next season, but there’s still a chance they could work out a long-term extension at some point during the offseason.

We have Clady listed as the No. 2 best available player in our Top 50 Free Agents list.
