Browns Cut K Billy Cundiff & Sign K Garrett Hartley

The Cleveland Browns have waived K Billy Cundiff on Saturday and signed former Saints K Garrett Hartley to a contract.

  • Cundiff was released with an injury settlement after he sprained his knee in practice on Thursday.

The Browns hosted free agent kickers for tryouts earlier in the week with Hartley being among this group. Hartley also tried out for the Saints this week.

Hartley had spent five seasons with the Saints before he was released in December of last year. In 2013, he converted on 22 of 30 attempts, in what amounted to be his worst season.

He has previously worked out for the Lions and Titans, but didn’t receive an offer from either.

Cundiff, 34, has converted 22 of 29 field goal attempts this season, but was just one of three from 50 yards or more.
