Browns Elevate S Elijah Benton To Active Roster

The Cleveland Browns announced Saturday that they’ve elevated S Elijah Benton to their active roster.

The Browns could use some depth at safety with Karl Joseph and Ronnie Harrison ruled out for Week 6.

Benton wound up going undrafted out of Liberty back in April. He later signed a three-year, $2.28 million contract with the Browns.

However, Cleveland later waived Benton coming out of training camp. He was re-signed to their practice squad after clearing waivers.

During his college career at Liberty, Benton recorded 161 tackles, one sack, a forced fumble, two interceptions and nine passes defended over the course of two seasons and 23 games.
