According to Jeremy Fowler, the Browns have no plans to trade WR Odell Beckham this offseason.
Beckham came out earlier this week and told reporters “I’m not going anywhere,” adding he had no plans to ask for a trade this offseason.
Per Ian Rapoport, that statement was in part grounded in conversations the Browns front office had with Beckham telling him they had no plans to trade him after just one year and they brought him in for the long haul.
A tumultuous first season in Cleveland has sparked the trade speculation surround Beckham, with the wideout fanning the flames by reportedly telling opponents to “Come get me” during games.
Beckham’s frustration stems from the Browns’ struggles on offense under first-year HC Freddie Kitchens, but the two sides now seem determined to work out the kinks in Year 2 together.
Beckham has also played through an injury for much of the year and is considering a potential surgery for a sports hernia after the season.
Beckham, 27, was taken with the No. 12 overall pick by the Giants back in 2014. He was set to make a base salary of $8,459,000 for the 2018 season when he agreed to a new five-year extension worth up to $95 million and includes $65 million in total guarantees.
The Giants traded Beckham to the Browns this offseason for the No. 17 overall pick, their second third-round pick and S Jabrill Peppers.
Beckham stands to make base salaries of $16.75 million and $14 million over the next two years.
In 2019, Beckham has appeared in 14 games for the Browns and caught 67 passes for 910 yards receiving and two touchdowns.
