The Cleveland Browns announced that they have officially placed rookie QB Johnny Manziel on season-ending injured reserve Wednesday.
The team also signedย LS Charley Hughlett to a contract, activatedย DL John Hughes from short-term injured reserve and placedย DLย Ishmaa’ily Kitchen on injured reserve.

Theย Manziel news comes as no surprise given thatย Browns HC Mike Pettine announced Monday that hisย hamstring injury wouldย keep him out of Week 17’s matchup against the Ravens.
The Browns have already added Tyler Thigpen to their roster and have been preparing undrafted rookie Connor Shaw to start their season finale.
Manziel’s rookie year ends with him completing 51.4 percent of his passes for 175 yards, no touchdowns and two interceptions to go along with 29 yards rushing and a touchdown.
Hughes, 25, was taken in the third round pick of the 2012 draft by the Browns.ย He has appeared in 31 games during his first two years in the league.
This season, Hughes has played a total of 167 snaps for the Browns’ defense and recorded 10 tackles and a pass defense.
