The Cleveland Browns announced Friday that they’ve placed TE David Njoku (broken wrist, concussion) on injured reserve and claimed S Juston Burris off of waivers from the Raiders.
Njoku was expected to miss a month after suffering a broken wrist on Monday. He was seeking a second opinion on the injury, but it appears as though the Browns felt it was best to put him on injured reserve and give him the time he needs to get healthy.
Njoku will miss at least the next eight weeks of the season before he can be activated from injured reserve.
Njoku, 23, is a former first-round pick of the Browns back in 2017. He’s currently in the third year of his four-year, $9.5 contract and stands to make a base salary of $1.33 million for the 2019 season.
The Browns have a fifth-year option on Njuko to pick up in 2020.
In 2019, Njuko has appeared in two games and caught four passes for 37 yards receiving and one touchdown.
