Browns Re-Sign RFA CB Marcus Burley & ERFA RB George Atkinson

The Cleveland Browns announced Monday that they’ve re-signed restricted free agent CB Marcus Burley and exclusive rights free agent RB George Atkinson.

The original-round restricted tender will cost the Browns around $1.797 million for the 2017 season.

Burley, 26, originally signed on with the Jaguars as an undrafted free agent out of Delware back in 2013. He bounced on and off the team’s practice squad before signing on with the Eagles’ practice squad.

He later signed on with the Rams’ practice squad at the end of 2013 and was signed off their practice squad by the Colts. However, Indianapolis traded him during the offseason to the Seahawks for a sixth-round pick.

He later signed an exclusive rights deal with Seattle last year but was waived with an injury designation during the preseason. He was claimed off of waivers by the Browns in September of last year.

In 2016, Burley appeared in 12 games for the Browns and recorded eight total tackles and one pass defense.
