The Cleveland Browns have officially re-signed WR Rashard Higgins to a one-year deal on Friday and waived DT Brandin Bryant.
Higgins had been testing the market as an unrestricted free agent but this was not a good year to be a free-agent receiver.
Cleveland was interested in bringing Higgins back at the right price and it appears the two sides have come to an agreement on what that is.
Jake Trotter reports Higgins turned down a higher offer for a deal worth $910,000 to compete for the No. 3 job with the Browns.
Higgins, 25, is a former fifth-round pick of the Browns back in 2016. He was entering the second year of his four-year, $2.584 million contract when the Browns elected to cut him loose at the start of the 2017 season.
Higgins was later signed to the Browns’ practice squad before eventually being promoted to their active roster during the 2017 season. Cleveland brought Higgins back on a one-year restricted deal worth $2.025 million last year.
In 2019, Higgins appeared in 10 games for the Browns and caught four passes for 55 yards and one touchdown.
We had him included in our Top 100 Available 2020 Free Agents list.
