Update:
Ian Rapoport of NFL Media reports that Vikings assistant GM George Paton is, in fact, expected to interview for the Browns’ general manager position.
According to Adam Schefter, the Browns have requested an interview with Vikings assistant GM George Paton for their general manager vacancy.
Paton was previously mentioned as a name to watch for the opening after Cleveland hired former Vikings OC Kevin Stefanski as its next head coach.
Tom Pelissero mentions Paton has previously turned down multiple interview requests from Cleveland, but Stefanski’s presence appears to make this situation different.
Cleveland has also requested an interview with Eagles exec Andrew Berry. Colts assistant GM Ed Dodds has declined Cleveland’s interview request.
Paton has been a popular name in GM searches over the past several years. However, he has declined to interview for a number of jobs to remain with the Vikings.
We’ll have more regarding the Browns’ GM search as the news is available.
