The Cleveland Browns announced Thursday that they’veย signed K Ross Martin to a contract and waived LB DeMarquis Gates.
Martin, 24, wound up signing on with the Jets as an undrafted free agent out of Duke back in 2016. He was waived coming out of the preseason, but the Jets re-signed him to a futures contract after the season.
Unfortunately, the Jets cut Martin loose at the start of the 2017 season. Martin did take part in the Browns’ minicamp on a tryout basis.
During his four-year college career at Duke, Martin converted 78 of 93 field goal attempts (83.9 percent) to go along with 196 of 197 extra point tries (99.5 percent) over the course of 53 games.
