Browns Sign QB Joel Stave, Waive Three

The Cleveland Browns announced Monday that they’ve signed QB Joel Stave and waived WR Matt Hazel, S Kai Nacua and WR Kasen Williams.

Stave, 25, wound up signing a three-year, $1.62 million contract with the Vikings as an undrafted free agent out of Wisconsin back in May of last year. He was, unfortunately, waived at the start of the regular season before signing on to the Vikings’ practice squad.

Stave had brief stints with the Seahawks, Chiefs and Redskins before the Jets added him to their practice squad last December. New York elected to bring Stave back on a futures contract this past January before cutting him loose a few weeks ago.

During his four-year college career, Stave threw for 7,635 yards while completing 59.5 percent of his passes to go along with 48 touchdowns and 37 interceptions.
