Thompson, 23, wound up signing on with the Chargers as an undrafted free agent out of Clemson following the 2019 NFL Draft. He agreed to a three-year, $1.755 million contract, but he was later waived with an injury designation.
Thompson later reverted to the Chargers’ injured reserve list after clearing waivers and was released with a settlement. The Buccaneers signed him to their taxi squad last week.
During his four-year college career at Clemson, Thompson caught 53 passes for 506 yards receiving and two touchdowns over the course of 35 games.
