The Tampa Buccaneers announced Tuesday that they’ve signed RB Andre Ellington to a contract for the 2019 season.
Ellington should compete for a backup/third-down back role this summer.
Ellington, 30, is a former sixth-round pick of the Cardinals back in 2013. He played out his rookie contract with the Cardinals before returning to Arizona on a one-year, $905,000 contract for the 2017 season.
However, Arizona cut him loose towards the end of the 2017 season and he wound up sitting out the entire 2018 season.
In 2017, Ellington has appeared in eight games for the Cardinals and rushed for 53 yards on 15 carries (3.5 YPC) to go along with 33 receptions for 297 yards receiving and one touchdown.
